Another Cardiologist

So today I took Amanda to another cardiologist who explained her condition in great detail. It was amazing that this is a common condition in infants and teenagers. Hmmm..kind of explains the episodes when she was an infant and now... Anyway he also went to great lengths at the procedure which sounds really cool and not something scary at all. I must say technology has come a long long way over the last 16 years! He was in no hurry to do the procedure (notice I am not refering to it as surgery because it really is not surgery as it is more of a procedure than anything). He wanted to really monitor when she has an episode so it will show up on the EKG and he can have a better understanding of what is going on inside. He gave her this cool looking device that she holds up to her heart and records for 30 seconds. She sends the recording over the phone and it will go right into the computer and show them her heartrate. She does this each time she feels her heart rate increase. He says the condition is not life threatening so she can have an episode and work through it - he gave her vagal maneuvers she could do to stop it. If those do not work and it continues for 30 minutes we have to go to ER. At that time they would administer medication to slow it down.

Also, if she looses this device it will cost us $2500 to replace! Yikes!

Wedding Bliss

Today was not such a beautiful day outside because it was cold and windy, but inside was just absolutely beautiful. Today my beautiful neice and her fiance got married! Don was the best man, Heather was the flower girl, and I was the photographer. The ceremony was lovely, the cake eating was awesome and the dancing memorable! Congratulations Johanna and Andrew - Now off to Disneyland for the honeymoon! Enjoy!

Emergency Room Blues

So as I am trying to get the little ones to school, I get a call saying Amanda's in the nurses office. The call was from Amanda's phone, but it wasn't Amanda so I thought it was a prank call because after they said that the phone went blank. Then the school called and it was official she was in the nurses office with a heart rate of 180. I knew she had tacycardia, but she has not had an episode like this since she was little. When I got to the school -  (no they did not call the paramedics!!) her heart rate had not changed. We immediately went to the ER, but by the time we got there it had finally calmed down to 95, but the doctor saw us anyway. She was told after her EKG that she had Wolf Parkinson White Syndrome and that she would need surgery to take care of it. Amanda freaked out thinking they were going to cut her chest open. Later the nurse came in and explained that it would be an outpatient procedure and not to worry! Whew what a relief!! Anyway, we see the cardiologist tomorrow to find out more.

Got to love GREEN!

It is officially St. Patricks Day when the kids eat Lucky Charms with Green Milk and for snack have green cupcakes and green apples. I love it when my 4 year old says yuk when I poured the green milk over her cereal until she saw her big sister eat the cereal saying yummy!!

WoW!! She is 16 already!!

We were planning a big party for Amanda's 16th birthday, but since we were in the middle of a big moving fiasco we decided to take her and 5 friends to an amusement park. She decided Six Flags Magic Mountain would be the perfect place. So we loaded everyone up at 6am and drove 4 hours to have fun on some AWESOME roller coasters. 3 of the friends that went had never ever been to Magic Mountain which was awesome! So at the end of the day riding all the roller coasters that they could, they all deemed X2 was their favorite!

So after 10 hours of being at the park, we headed home and the kids were still going for awhile. At our last stop before coming into Vegas, Amanda decided she wanted to climb onto the top of the truck and stand! She is a goofball!!

HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY AMANDA!!!!
